By age 5 Gareth's mum had bought him his first drum kit in order to reclaim all her pots and pans that he had been using from being a toddler. By age 11 Gareth had a full drum kit in his nana's loft where he would spend hours playing along to a variety of artists including Adam & The Ants, Madness, Status Quo, Dio.

Age 22 Gareth took the plunge and joined the Musicians Institute (MI) in London leaving with his diploma in percussion in 1996. Whilst at the MI Gareth gigged & recorded with a number of bands around London and upon graduating he joined Riverdance - The Show. For the next 5 years  Gareth toured the world playing sold out arena's and theatre's and TV shows.

After this Gareth returned to his hometown of Beverley, East Yorkshire where he began to build his business as a drum teacher and formed the band 'Moonshine Crows'. More recently Gareth has played in dance halls to castles with 'Eddy Gartry's Big Magic Dance Band' while living in Wales.

Gareth has been a professional drummer for the past 30 years and spent the last 21 years teaching. He is now living in Driffield after returning to East Yorkshire from Wales and travels to lessons here and in the surrounding areas. He also offers online lessons and lessons from his home.​

Gareth is a member of the Musicians Union, has an enhanced DBS and is fully insured.

                                                               DRUM KIT LESSONS

​

All lessons are taught on a 1-2-1 basis and are structured around the individual need of each student. So, whether you already drum or have never held a pair of sticks, you we be catered for. You will learn everything to do with the wonderful world of drumming from holding a stick to playing along to your favorite song - or creating your own! You can expect to learn how to hit the drums,technique, rudiments, grooves and, how to read and write drum notation. All styles of music are taught with no pressure to take grades. Gareth creates a relaxed environment in which he makes lessons fun and creative.  However, if you want to pursue grades, Gareth teaches both Rockschool and Trinity Collage Programmes. He's experienced in taking students through grades 1 to 8.

 

All lessons are available to students from 8 years old to mature adults.

 

£25/ 1 hour lesson.  £15/ 30 min lesson in the Driffield area (inc. Wetwang,Garton,Wansford,Nafferton,Hutton Cranswick,Kilham,Burton Agnes, North Frodingham, Bainton)

 

 £30/ 1 hour lesson in the Beverley, Cottingham,Bridlington area

It is a requirement that all students wear earplugs/headphones during lessons for their own protection
